Jack the Miner Walk, Dandenong Ranges National Park - December. 2022

There are some big old Mountain Ash up here.

I headed south east along Lyrebird Track after leaving Grants Picnic Ground.

Climbing up Neuman Track.

This grassy opening of Neuman Track is sometimes a good spot to see Roos.

Dropping down Paddy Track.

After passing through the grassy opening that is Jack the Miners I climbed Welch Track up towards Coles Ridge Road.

Coles Ridge Road.

Man Ferns and Mountain Ash along Coles Ridge Road.

My Friday afternoon amble was over - it's time to head home😊

The Dirt.
According to AllTrails I walked around 7 kilometres and climbed about 304 metres on this fairly easy stroll. The tracks up here were all clear and well signposted. Grants Picnic area has all the usual picnic facilities, including a small shop and café. Considering that the Dandenong Ranges National Park is almost surrounded by the encroaching humanity walking here is surprisingly good, the wildlife and the trees are particularly notable. I used my AllTrails App for navigation this afternoon. The walk has also been written up by numerous walking guide book authors over the years.
